Principal's Welcome
At the forefront of education for over 100 years, Slough Grammar School successfully blends tradition with a forward-thinking, internationally-minded, educational philosophy that truly meets the needs of young people growing to adulthood in an increasingly complex world.
I am personally driven by the desire to challenge able students. Finding the appropriate level academically and allowing them to develop as a whole through nurturing and valuing non-academic skills.
As a selective school, we must provide academic young people from all backgrounds with the means to compete in the future labour market and become principled and active citizens. We must also value personal growth and expect our students to act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness, justice and respect for the dignity of the individual, groups and communities. From day one we expect them to take responsibility for their own actions and the consequences that accompany them. I am proud to say that our students understand the importance of intellectual, physical and emotional balance to achieve personal well-being for themselves and others. They are a credit to the school and to their families.
Education at Slough Grammar School is about inspirational teachers and aspirational pupils. Our curriculum is innovative and provides for challenge and extension. We expect nothing but the best from our students who continue to reward our trust with excellent exam results as well as university offers and high participation in extracurricular and enrichment activities. Our results speak for themselves and have been validated by Ofsted inspection grading of Outstanding in every category.
Slough is a successful school community built on a strong culture and curriculum which takes into account the richness and diversity brought in by its members. We encourage young people to understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively in more than one language in line with our commitment to our Language College Status.
As a world class school we take our commitment to the wider community very seriously and expect our parents to be active participants. I know I can count on every single member of the school community’s support to fulfil one simple aim:
Ad astra (reach for the stars)
If you share this vision and want your child to achieve this aim, I look forward to working with you.
