Slough Grammar school is part of the Slough East cluster for the Extended Schools Initiative. This means that local primary and secondary schools are working collaboratively to provide a varied menu of activities and study support for the students, parenting support, and adult learning for the community.
At Slough Grammar School, the Extended Schools Initiative has been successfully linked to the “Every Child Matters” agenda.
We feel that extra-curricular activities are essential to enhance pupils’ motivation and confidence. Students are encouraged to broaden their horizons through the truly exceptional range of out-of-hours activities which range from Hindi to street dancing.
Our community role is very important to us. Many of these activities, for instance the community languages clubs, are opened to students from local schools. Slough Grammar School also provides language evening classes for adults in seven languages and at three different levels. These courses have proven to be very popular with our parents and the community. The school premises are also used by businesses and associations. For instance, the Spanish embassy is using our premises to deliver language courses to local bilingual children.
