Sixth form students and staff at Upton Court Grammar School are celebrating following the award of conditional offers at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, as well as other top UK universities.
Sulaiman Iqbal, 18, received an offer from Cambridge to read History, and Ethel Ng, 17, has an offer of a place at Oxford to read Economics and Management, both starting in September 2018. The applicants had to demonstrate academic achievements, communication skills and resilience through the gruelling interview days, and managed to secure places awarded to only the top 15% of applicants.
In addition, a further twenty seven students from Upton Court Grammar School secured offers from Imperial College, King’s College, and University College London (UCL) from the University of London and Warwick University in courses including Engineering, Law, Medicine and Pharmacy. These achievements are built upon year on year, with over thirty Upton Court Grammar School students progressing on to Russell Group Universities, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of staff and students of the school.
Head of school, Mark Pritchard, said “Our students’ destinations are very important to us as we firmly believe that students from Upton Court Grammar School will be society’s future leaders. We are all immensely proud of all of our students who have received offers from top-ranking universities and we are committed to working with them to achieve personal and academic success”.
