Slough Grammar School
Parents : Introduction
Your role at Slough Grammar

Whether you’re the parent of a Year 7 to 11 pupil or a sixth form student, you will find useful information in this section about the relationship we need to create between you and us. You’ll find that home school partnership is an important part of our approach to educating your child.

We strive to give children a good and rounded education. Obviously, we put major emphasis on academic achievement, as that - and the examination results it brings - is critical in preparing your child for their future career. But, we also put strong emphasis on personal development. We aim to help every child in school reach their personal potential so that they face the world beyond school as confident, thoughtful and considerate citizens. This balance of academic and personal growth is what we consider to be a good education and that is what we aim to give to your child.

Of course, we cannot do that alone. We need your child to engage with the school and to work hard during their time with us. And we need you to help encourage and develop their ability to do that. At times you may need our support and we may need yours, in reaching our ultimate goal of preparing your child to take their place in the world - we think that’s a good goal to share and hope that you will join with us in working towards it.

In this area of the site you will find more information on your role and our home school agreement which, if you haven’t already done so, you will need to sign and return to us. There is also information about facilities, resources, student life and more. Information, dealing with matters such as rules, achievements and policies can be found on the “About our school” pages. And, for information on subjects, qualifications and other matters relating to your child’s time at school you may also like to explore our Year 7 to 11 or sixth form areas.

If our web site leaves you with any unanswered questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

This Government initiative identifies and recognises schools, which have: a proven track record of collaborative learning partnerships; an innovative approach; a record for adding value in school circumstances; a recognised specialism (our Language College status); sound performance management strategies; links with higher education institutions and that promote high quality school based teacher training.

Gaining the “Leading Edge School” accolade acknowledges our record for innovation and working with other schools in the pursuit of excellence. There are just over a hundred Leading Edge Schools in the UK and we are proud to be one of them.
