Applied A Level Business
What this course offers Whether a student is preparing for further education or employment, this course will provide a valuable insight to how business works. The course offers specific and detailed information on many critical business functions. Whether a student’s ultimate aim is to work in a business or run a business, they will gain understanding of key areas by looking at organisations and how they function, marketing, economics, finance, administration, human resources, motivation, management and customer service. The Edexcel Applied A Level in business offers units at AS and A2. The aim of the AS units is to encourage investigation and to support a highly active student-centred approach. The A2 units require a decision-making approach, encouraging students to consider management decisions and their impact on business. A student completing this course and going into further education will have a foundation of knowledge to build upon. This will greatly enhance their learning potential as their studies progress. A student moving directly into employment will understand how the business they are entering works. That knowledge will allow them to function well within an organisation and to see potential opportunities for career development. Their understanding of business will be an advantage to them and their future employer, helping to make them a valuable member of staff. Enrichment activities Students studying Applied A Level Business will be able to participate in our Young Enterprise scheme, the Shares for Schools programme, work experience placements, and a cabinet Seminar. All of these activities have a clear and strong focus on business related matters and help to add context and value to what is learnt on the course. These practical activities will provide a productive addition to CVs and application forms. Beyond the sixth form Vocational courses can be useful to students seeking a university or further education placement. However, as vocational courses lean more toward the world of work, they are often selected by those interested in seeking employment after the sixth form. This course would be of practical value to those seeking further education or employment in areas such as economics, business, marketing, law, human resources, information systems, politics and accountancy. |
